We are a Canadian-based manufacturing company that makes construction products designed for soundproofing and thermal insulation.
Ever since we built our original plant back in 1946, we’ve taken pride in our reputation as a leader in the development of innovative and environmentally friendly sound and thermal insulation products.
As a company we have always distinguished ourselves through our commitment to recycling and environmental protection. The MSL mill operates with a completely closed (zero effluent) water system, resulting in an efficient and ecologically responsible process.
MSL’s SONOPAN fibreboard soundproofing panels are among the most eco-friendly construction materials on the planet. They are made from 100% recycled wood, of which 60% is post-consumer, (used by the end user), and 40% is post-industrial (recovered from manufacturers of wood furniture, flooring etc.)
Our REFLEXOR soundproofing membrane is made with 60% recycled post-industrial polyester. It is hypoallergenic and promotes better air quality, while its thermal properties help reduce a building’s energy consumption.
Our products are made with the utmost respect for the environment and minimize the environmental impact on forest resources.
Environmental mission and strategy (ESG)
Fiberboard panels are among the most ecological, insulating, soundproofing, light and easy to apply and offer excellent value for money. These fit perfectly in the search for the objectives of sustainable development and healthy and ecological construction. The panels are made from recycled wood fibers, thus giving many lives to our natural resources, namely our forests. The same wood fiber can be recycled up to seven times. Realize that 1000 kg of wood, cardboard or recycled paper is the equivalent of 12 to 17 trees.
MSL recycles approximately 25,000 tonnes of wood per year, which equates to nearly 85 million square feet of panels for the construction industry and saves over 300,000 trees each year. If we calculate that MSL has been around for more than 30 years, it has saved more than 9 million trees!
