What is the best building tape for taping air barriers?
You recommend using "brands of tape that are more suitable for extreme temperature changes. Siga, Delta Multi-Band and Air Stop are three examples of tapes with much better adhesion." I'm in Montreal and i was trying to find one of these brands of tape in local hardware stores but I can't find it. Do you know of a source where I can get one of these or another brand and type of tape you would recommond for taping Tyvek Home wrap? It's for insulating a cabin in the upper Laurentians, so there will extreme temperature changes. Thanks! Frank
It is often hard to find the highest quality building materials for green home building in stores, but you can find them online in the Ecohome product directory, here is a link -

The solvents in lower-quality building tapes that you easily find (which are used in almost all tract home developments) evaporate in pretty short order, at which point they become brittle and come unadhered.
