Which are the best models?
There are a few brands of ductless HRV and HRVs, we don’t have a particular brand to recommend over another though there are a few options among ductless HRV & ERV units here.

Are you building a new home or addition, or is this an project to retrofit an existing space that doesn’t currently have ventilation? We used it for a new home, and as you will read in that page it has some advantages and some disadvantages, namely not being able to use a central system as a bathroom fan, which is a great place to recupate heat from rather than depressurizing a home with a dedicated bathroom fan.
