**About Me:**
I am Clayton Cowell, AIA, NCARB, Principal Architect & Owner of Cowbell Designs, LLC, a Veteran-Owned Small Business based in Kansas City. I specialize in residential architecture, including additions, renovations, new homes, decks, garages, ADUs, basement finishes, and permit-ready construction documents. My work focuses on clear drawings, practical design solutions, zoning and code coordination, and helping homeowners and builders move through design and permitting with fewer surprises.
Environmentally Sustainable Choices
At Cowbell Designs, I support environmentally responsible design through practical, buildable choices that improve comfort, durability, and long-term performance. Sustainability is also built directly into my client process. Each project includes a contract clause where the client selects at least one sustainable item or strategy they would like to incorporate into the design. In many cases, clients choose several. These may include efficient layouts, durable materials, energy-conscious assemblies, daylighting, ventilation, water-conscious fixtures, adaptive reuse, or other project-specific choices. My goal is to make sustainable design approachable, intentional, and realistic for the project, the budget, and the people who will live in the space.
