Hoopes Architects incorporates traditional Santa Fe architecture and its minimal aesthetic, simple and spare, with contemporary form and function. Both styles are designed to work in their own physical and cultural environment. In the early Santa Fe pueblo style, houses were protected from the wind, snow and rains – but today the contemporary home is embraced by the land, incorporating natural light and openness thus becoming part of the environment. Blurring the lines between indoors and outdoors is a hallmark of our firm. We invite residents into the landscape while providing a sense of enclosure and protection for a truly unique, custom home. Hoopes Architects works with talented artists and artisans, so the design process becomes an exchange of ideas, facilitating the use of uncommon materials and inventive applications. For more than 30 years we have specialized in the design of award winning contemporary homes, performing/assembly spaces, sacred spaces and modern commercial spaces both regionally and nationally. As a firm, we are deeply committed to community, pragmatic design and enduring architecture. We develop collaborative, lasting relationships with our clients that allow us to interpret and implement their vision and style. That personal collaboration also extends to other parties in the planning and design process including contractors, landscape architects, interior designers, artisans and homeowner associations, all of whom we have established strong working relationships.
