Guiding Green, LLC was founded in early 2005 by Julie B. Manley. Julie is President of Guiding Green LLC, and sits on the Board of Directors of the Michigan chapter of the Association of Hazardous Materials Professionals. Julie has a combined 20+ years of experience in environmental health, safety and sustainability roughly split evenly between industry and consulting. Prior to Guiding Green, Julie held various positions over her ten year career at Abbott Laboratories in the manufacturing and environmental, health & safety organizations. Her responsibilities ranged from EHS compliance in R&D labs and production facilities to developing global programs to enable corporate environmental performance improvement. Additionally, as Manufacturing Coordinator, she was responsible for optimizing the manufacturing of the active ingredient in Biaxin®, an antibiotic indicated for the treatment of mild to moderate infections. Julie earned a Bachelor of Arts from Northwestern University, Evanston, IL and a Master of Public Health in Environmental Health Science from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, MI. She is a Six Sigma Green Belt, Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM), and Vice President and Membership Chair of the Michigan chapter of the Association of Hazardous Materials Professionals. Julie has also co-authored numerous papers on the subject of sustainability and green chemistry in peer reviewed publications and trade journals, and presented on related subjects.
