Otak

tak’s name comes from the initials of its three founders: Nawzad Othman, Ralph Tahran, and Greg Kurahashi. Otak quickly grew into a firm with a presence around the entire western United States and the Middle East, with a strong reputation for excellence in smart growth planning, sustainable design and development, and innovative transportation solutions. Creativity, integrity, and skill have guided Otak’s efforts as an award-winning architecture, engineering, landscape architecture, planning, and construction project management firm. In 2011, Korean firm HanmiGlobal acquired a majority share of Otak. Since HanmiGlobal’s involvement, profitable growth, through both organic growth and acquisition, has been a focus. In 2017 DAY CPM joined Otak and expanded our services to include comprehensive project management and owner’s representative offerings. In the same year Loris and Associates strengthened our design capabilities in Colorado. In early 2019 we added an architecture firm, V3 Studios, to bolster our capability in hospitality, mixed-use, and residential high-rise design. Growing rapidly, today we are operating out of eight offices in three states. In 2021, Visitor Use Management joined Otak to expand our ability to analyze visitation trends to develop strategies for limiting crowding and mitigate negative impacts to the environment. The following year, Tarr Whitman Group was added to provide project controls services, a process used to predict, understand, and constructively influence the time and cost outcomes of a project or program.
