Founded in 2007, Radon Environmental is a building and health sciences company focused on reducing public exposure to radon gas, which is the leading environmental cause of lung cancer. The company is a leader in raising radon awareness and education, and its core business includes radon mapping and measurement services and providing high performance radon mitigation solutions.

The company has secured exclusive partnerships with leaders in the research and development of radiation detection and radon mitigation technologies, and has key partnerships with trusted builders.

As President and CEO of this visionary company, and because of my personal experience with radon-induced lung cancer, I am passionate about raising radon awareness and providing the best technologies to protect our homes, schools and workplaces from exposure to radon gas, which will save lives.

Building design can inhibit or allow radon entry. Revisions to building codes, permitting processes and home warranties include radon testing and mitigation systems, reflecting more progressive international approaches to radon prevention.

Radon Environmental has developed new code-approved mitigation technologies to improve methods of keeping poisonous gases away from indoor spaces.

Radon Guard™ is a new patent pending, structural under-slab ventilation and insulation panel system. It allows for soil gas removal, insulation, and a capillary break between the ground and air barrier system.

The Canadian Construction Materials Centre approves Radon Guard as an alternative solution to the clean granular material in the code (CCMC 13698-R). It also holds International Code compliance: ICC-ES# AC-461 and UL listing.

Advantages over code prescriptive gravel include: easy to source, easy to install, inexpensive to transport and zero risk of introducing radon contaminated material into a building structure.

Available in five panel sizes with varying R-values, Radon Guard is used in commercial and residential buildings. Combined with the polyethylene membrane Radon Block™, Radon Guard provides a level of protection far superior to existing standard building materials.

Radon Block™ is a high performance radon blocking barrier membrane. As a vapour barrier and gas membrane, it is 100 times less permeable to radon, methane and other harmful volatile organic compounds (VOCs) than typical polyethylene vapour retarders.

The membrane is a seven-layer co-extruded barrier made from state-of-the-art polyethylene and EVOH resins to provide unmatched impact strength as well as superior resistance to gas and moisture transmission. Radon Block is a highly resilient underslab/vertical wall barrier designed to restrict gas migration through the ground and concrete slab.

Produced within the strict guidelines of an ISO 9001:2008 Certified Management System. Evaluated and approved (CCMC 14024-R) as a code alternative solution.

The product is a 20 mils thick sheet available in 10 ft x 150 ft rolls. Custom sizes with factory welded seams available.

Radostat is a new mitigation approach to radon reduction and monitoring in commercial and residential buildings. Developed in France by AYKOW, Radostat is less invasive to building design using existing HRV/ERV. It operates only as needed to keep radon levels low, prioritizing energy efficiency along with indoor air quality.

The responsive design pilots ventilation systems in real-time when detecting radon peaks above 150 Bq/m3. Coupled with an HRV, Radostat provides the most simple radon mitigation system that is highly beneficial for retrofit and new build scenarios alike. It effectively eliminates the need for standard mitigation gravel, exhaust pipe and fan.

Energy savings of up 80% may be realized. Radostat operates only on demand to keep radon levels low.
