Charles H. Toothill II, Principal Charles H. Toothill II founded Toothill Architecture PLLC in 2021 for the purpose of collaborating with clients, in Westchester, NY and the greater New York City area to achieve design goals that emphasize user-comfort, sensitivity to context, and sustainability. Clear on-going communication and collaboration with clients, contractors, and local authorities is seen as essential to achieve successful work that meets our client’s expectations. Known as Chuck, his design approach begins with developing an understanding of a client’s objectives, continues with research of a project's specific context, relevant design precedents, and assuring conceptual ideas are well integrated with technical and code constraints before continuing with detailed design documentation. Chuck’s ability to work on and successfully lead a wide range of project types make him particularly well-suited for projects with unique needs or atypical requirements. Chuck was an architect for 22 years at Robert A.M. Stern Architects (RAMSA), where he managed, designed, and detailed projects including private residences, multi-family residential buildings, institutional buildings, and town plans in locations as near as New York and as far as Hong Kong and Almaty, Kazakhstan. Project sizes varied from two thousand to two million square feet. Chuck was actively involved in the education, sustainability, and standards committees at RAMSA, and played a leading role in establishing the firm’s policies for quality assurance and quality control.
