Richard (Ric) Stott obtained a Bachelor of Science in Sociology from Dowling College in 1973. After graduation, he moved to California, where he found his way into the building trades. With a construction background as a carpenter and contractor, he attended architecture school. After receiving a Master of Architecture Degree, with Honors, from California Polytechnic State University in 1983, he moved back to the East Coast, where he established his own firm in 1988. In 1996 Mr. Stott consolidated efforts and joined forces with Henry M. Flynn Architect in Southampton. Together, they completed commercial, institutional, and residential projects in New York and Maine. Their award-winning, innovative, and original designs include custom-made furniture, built-ins, and architectural features. Stott Architecture, P.C. was established in 2013 after Flynn’s retirement. The firm integrates a variety of efficient and environmentally responsible technologies, including Solar Air/Water Heating, Photovoltaic Energy, Geothermal Heating and Cooling, and Passive Solar Design. Mr. Stott’s area of interest and expertise is “sustainable” architecture. As a LEED AP, he has recently completed the first LEED Platinum Carbon Neutral home in Suffolk County. Mr. Stott has been heavily involved with the American Institute of Architects (AIA) for the past 30 years. He is a member of the National Council of Architectural Review Boards (NCARB). The firm is also a member of the American Institute of Architects Committee on Architecture for Justice, the United States Green Building Council, and the American Solar Energy Society. Mr. Stott understands that focus, careful planning, dedication, and a positive attitude lead to successful solutions. His personal life reflects these beliefs. He has held a pilot license since he was 18 years old, is a glider pilot, and is a competitive master swimmer and triathlete. He has successfully completed three IronMan distance triathlons.
