River City Woodworks desire is to design and build top quality, handcrafted wood products for people to enjoy over time. We can source any wood but typically use Canadian woods such as Douglas Fir, Pine, Knotty or Clear Alder, Red or White Oak, Maple and Cherry. You can opt for reclaimed wood which always has a story – we often have a supply on hand – or speciality woods like Walnut, Jatoba or Mahogany. Many varieties are available in quarter sawn.
We have in-house specialists and draftsmen to either bring your vision alive or help you find a design that inspires you. We’ll guide you through the right wood, hardware, glass and finishing choices. If your designer, architect or builder has specific requirements, rest assured that we have experience working with these industry professionals.
Once we get an idea of the basic size, design and layout of your project, we provide you with design drawings and a price. Next, we tweak the design to incorporate any specifications and changes you have. From there, we move to final shop drawings, which you approve before we start building.
We believe the best value comes from allowing us to finish your wood product. Pre-finishing components before assembly creates a better overall result. We can finish your wood in a controlled environment, free of the many potential contaminants involved in construction and renovation.
Installation of our entry systems, exterior and interior doors and our architectural millwork and trim, is best done with the services of your builder or a qualified carpenter. We almost always install our kitchens, bathrooms and custom cabinetry.
