From Humble Beginnings to Industry Leadership In 1998, Dave Jenkins, with a nudge from his wife, set up shop in his basement with a vision to positively impact local businesses by providing high-quality land surveying and design support services. From the very beginning, Dave recognized that adding engineering services would be essential for long-term growth. Overcoming the challenges that come with launching a business, JSD’s momentum quickly accelerated. In 2008, Dave acquired a company that brought additional engineering staff, including a planning department and a landscape architecture team. Just a year later, JSD added structural engineering to its growing list of services. Evolving to Meet Client Needs As the industry evolved and the needs of the communities JSD served changed, the company continued to transform. JSD’s service offerings expanded to include development services consulting in 2018, solidifying its reputation as a provider of sustainable, creative solutions from project conception to grand opening. What started as a small office with a handful of employees has since grown into an established local, regional, and national business with seven offices in four states. Despite this remarkable growth, JSD has remained true to its humble roots. Strategic Growth and New Horizons JSD’s growth trajectory has only gained momentum. The company recently expanded its Milwaukee Regional Office through a strategic merger with Milwaukee-based CJ Engineering. This partnership not only strengthened JSD’s talent pool but also broadened service offerings for a growing client base. This milestone follows JSD’s early 2024 merger with a surveying firm based in Alexandria, MN, further reinforcing the company’s ongoing pursuit of growth and excellence. Looking ahead, JSD remains committed to advancing its strategic plan, with additional merger opportunities planned for 2025. These partnerships will continue to enhance JSD’s expertise and reach, allowing us to serve even more communities effectively.
