As the Director of Energy & Sustainability for Reit Management & Research LLC (RMR), a real estate management company headquartered in Newton, MA. John leads RMR’s Real Estate Services division in its development and execution of sustainability policies and programs, energy supply procurement, energy reduction strategies and planning, LEED and ENERGY STAR certifications, and communicating goals and achievements internally and externally. In this capacity, his efforts also carry over to Sonesta International Hotels Corporation which includes twenty-five full service and extended stay hotels. RMR’s managed public real estate portfolios include Government Properties Income Trust (GOV), Senior Housing Properties Trust (SNH), Hospitality Properties Trust (HPT) and Select Income REIT (SIR). As a licensed Professional Engineer and LEED Accredited Professional, John’s experiences with energy audits and modeling, commissioning, systems design, utility incentive programs and performance-based financing bring an in-depth and full-circle management approach to commercial real estate sustainability. John received a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Maine.
