Our firm’s design philosophy is simple. It is based on a belief that the decision making process is the foundation to a successful project. To that end we work along with our clients to fully understand their goals, aspirations and programmatic needs. Over the years we have applied this approach to a diverse group of clients which includes housing of all types and income levels, educational and health care institutions, performing arts venues, and public agencies. We believe that we also have a commitment to the community at large in terms of relating to the social and physical context and protecting and sustaining the environment. We have sought to develop unique and innovative solutions to the design of the built environment. For example, RKTB was one of the pioneers in developing approaches to adapting existing buildings to new uses. More recently, we worked collaboratively on the development of a low-density infill housing prototype which was developed to provide the maximum amount of affordable housing in working class communities throughout New York City. As we continue, RKTB looks forward to serving existing and new clients in addressing their needs and in turn achieving their goals through innovative, well designed and well-functioning environments.
