In 1991, friends and colleagues Hiro Kinoshita, Jim Thomas, John Tully, Gary Gregson, Bob Yamafuji and Frank Yonemori started a small but ambitious firm in southern California, merging the first letters of their last names into the abbreviation: KTGY. Their dream was to embrace generation-to-generation leadership and create a collaborative environment where new ideas and superior design would flourish. The founders understood that a highly collaborative culture is essential — one where everyone puts respect first, passionately exchanges ideas, provides meaningful input, and enjoys the chance to learn from each other; reaching personal milestones as one part of something bigger.
