You will for sure need insulation below your basement floor. The minimal levels of insulation required to meet building code amount to significant energy loss and needlessly consume homeowners money as well. Given the climate conditions in the Mountains of BC, Canada, I would personally be putting about 6 inches below grade as well. have a look at this page here –
