Our Green Story

At Formica Group, we continually strive to create innovative products that promote a healthier environment to support sustainable design.

 

We constantly develop strategies that enable us to move toward sustainability with efforts to:

  • reduce energy use throughout the life of our products
  • reduce carbon emissions by developing renewable energy sour ces, waste-to-energy technologies and fuel-efficient freight activities
  • work with suppliers to increase recycled and eco-friendly content in our raw materials, making mandatory the use of fibers from sustainable forests

​Our products are rigorously tested to ensure their safety for homes, schools and other public spaces.

Life Cycle Assessment (LCA)

In accordance with ISO 14044, Formica Corporation has completed an LCA (Life Cycle Assessment) on key products and their environmental impacts on energy, water, waste and greenhouse gases across each product's full life cycle. We are committed to work within our manufacturing facilities and with our supply chain partners and transportation operators to reduce our environmental impacts.

Resources and recycling

Formica Corporation recognizes the economic and environmental benefits that result from efficient resource use and recycling. Several Formica Corporation operations recycle waste for raw materials or supplementary energy sources.

LEED® Green Building rating system

Formica Corporation has instituted design and manufacturing standards that ensure its products contribute points to fulfill the U.S. Green Building Council's LEED rating system.

GREENGUARD® Environmental Institute

Formica Group makes it a priority to offer a full range of environmentally friendly surfacing products. Formica® Laminate, Formica® Solid Surfacing and Formica® DecoMetal® meet all GREENGUARD & GREENGUARD Gold requirements for indoor air quality.

Certified wood

Formica Corporation has been certified by Scientific Certification Systems (SCS), an independent third-party certifier of environmental and sustainability claims.

Climate change and energy
